MilkGrip™ - Indoor / Bonding Agent Information

This Bonding Agent allows Milk Paint to adhere to metal, glass and painted, varnished or lacquered surfaces. It is a water-based concentrated acrylic emulsion that can be mixed with milk paint or used as a primer. This product contains no VOC’s and is almost odorless.

  • Shake well before using. For optimum adhesion, clean the surface to be painted with T.S.P. and sand lightly to roughen the surface. Always test adhesion before applying to a large area.

To use with Milk Paint: Mix one part of the bonding agent to four parts of milk paint already mixed. For an even stronger grip, mix in equal parts. Mix the bonding agent with all coats of paint for optimum adhesion.

To use as a primer for water-based paints: Apply a thin layer of bonding agent with a paint brush or roller. Let dry for 2 hours before applying paint.

  • When should I use MilkGrip™?

Use bonding agent when you do not want any chipping, i.e. on glass, metal, previously finished, and other slick surfaces. Milk paint will resist or chip if it cannot adhere. The ratios of bonding agent can be adjusted depending on the type of surface. Do not use bonding agent when white-washing, staining, or if you desire a “chippy look”. Remember that painting a pre-finished without sanding and/or using bonding agent can be unpredictable.
